Well, the end of the outdoor season is upon us again and another year we will be wondering where it has gone.
From a tournament organisers point of view a very disappointing year as shoot entries round the county and country have been at around 50% of the usual, many shoots had to be cancelled as they were non-viable financially. With the cost of all archery equipment increasing, many clubs depend on that income stream, so I can see a few clubs going to the wall in the near future.
Affiliations are due now. My club has only received approximately 60% of the membership fees so far, there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm to participate in the sport we all love so much.
The indoor season is just starting, I shot my first indoor round on Saturday, feels good to be out of the wind and occasionally rain, although I’m not a lover of indoors. The cost of our indoor venue has risen for the first time in many years, so I assume most have, it is more important than ever to support your clubs and attend these sessions. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the counties indoor shoots.
As of the 1st October the junior age groups have changed, information can be found on the AGB website which is also new. This information is important for any club handicap officer. I understand that the handicap program (Golden Records) has been updated over the weekend. Also important for tournament organisers as distances for the age groups will have changed.
Don’t forget the Notts online Frostbite challenge which Lizzie Eyres from Beeston Rylands has put together with some changes this year, information will be better available after the next committee meeting on the 10th October.
The counties AGM is going ahead on November 20th, I would ask that as many people attend via zoom so that all clubs are represented and we are quorate, AGM is the only opportunity for county members to have their say in who runs the county. General meetings are for archers and clubs to have their say in how the county is run.
