Hazel Connolly – Longbow Archer – Bingham LCAC

I’m sorry to pass on the news received today that one of our longstanding former members, Hazel Connolly, passed away in October,  At the time she was in a nursing home in Cotgrave and her death was Covid related. As well as being active in the club, running our postal league team for many years and being one of my predecessors as club secretary, Hazel was a familiar sight on shooting lines across the county for many years.  Most people will remember her as a longbow archer but before that she had a successful time shooting recurve, in fact I number her old recurve bow amongst those I have in my garage.  I recall shooting a Portsmouth with her one time and pointing out that she had her limbs on upside down, her response to which was that it explained why she was shooting so well that afternoon.
