VIEW FROM THE CHAIR DECEMBER 2019

I understand my predecessors used to write a short article which is basically the thoughts and ramblings of the chairman, I would like to restart this extinct tradition monthly but I can’t guarantee what will come out, so here goes.

Hopefully a great outdoor season was had by all, keeping in touch with friend and opponents on a regular basis at club and the county tournament schedule. Medals have been won and great rivalries have been put to bed for the winter.

The nights have drawn in and the winter indoor season is well under way, at this time of the year archers tend to recede back into their clubs and become hermits for six months, shooting at their own venues. It does not have to be that way, why not keep the summer atmosphere going.

Why not try shooting at another clubs’ indoor venue as a visitor, all it takes normally is a quick phone call or with todays technology, Face book, etc. I am sure most of the county clubs with indoor venues would welcome visitors on a club night. This would also help support the clubs to keep what is normally an expensive time of the year.

Archery is an all-encompassing sport, it would be nice if the county archers help support each other in the winter as they do in the summer, maybe new friends made of those archers who do not travel to the county tournaments.

Don’t forget the winter training at Sherwood archers this winter, 5 sessions starting in December at a very reasonable price. If you are interested: Mario Stankovic or do it through your club secretaries. Register before the end of December and I hope to see you there.

I look forward to shooting at different indoor venues during this winter, assuming I am welcome.

Let’s make this the strongest county in the country.

All my best wishes for Christmas to you and your families.

Bernie Dicks

Chairman
