Nottinghamshire junior compound archers bring back the medals from the Archery GB 2018 Youth Festival which was held at Lilleshall between 29 July and 3 August.
The competition didn’t get off to the best start on Sunday with official practice being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. However, our juniors battled through strong wind and rain to complete the qualification round in the afternoon. The weather didn’t dampen their enthusiasm and a fun-filled week of shooting was had by all.
Liam Wright progressed through to the bronze medal match in the team event bringing home a well-deserved bronze medal. Liam also commentated on Archery GB’s live broadcast of the individual finals.
Thomas Lane got through to the gold medal match in the tier 2 mixed team event. Thomas and his partner shot really well in some difficult conditions to take the silver medal.
Jenny Bryan progressed through to the gold medal match in the team event to take the gold medal. Jenny was also part of England’s winning Euronations team.
Paige Jones had an amazing week getting through to 3 gold medal matches. Taking silver in the team and mixed team events, and bring home an individual gold medal with a convincing win over her opponent. Paige’s coach in the box for her individual gold medal match was Nottinghamshire’s own Nigel Lane.
