Hart of Sherwood

Re-update about our Archery Club, Hart of Sherwood:

Hello my name is George White and I am the Club Treasurer and Lead Coach at the Hart of Sherwood Archery Club.

I currently manage beginner courses and also coach advanced archery sessions at our local archery club’s current indoor and outdoor venues: Botany Avenue (Indoors) and George V Park (Outdoors) in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

In October last year Chris Turner, Development Manager, at Archery Gb, contacted me with the view to managing and coaching people with a wide range of disabilities at the Portland College based in Mansfield.

This has been a very exciting project and I have really learned a lot from coaching clients with a range different disabilities.

Hart of Sherwood club have already registered a satellite club to accommodate the disabled club section at their own venue and also we have registered another section to our club called ‘Hart of Sherwood Paras’ so when they have completed their beginner lessons they can then join our ‘Hart of Sherwood Para’s club.

Hart of Sherwood will also be inclusive so people from the general public with a range of disabilities can also have archery lessons and join our local archery club.

I started the coaching sessions at Portland college in October 2014 at their small indoor venue next to their cafe which is good too.

Sadly the indoor shooting distance is only about 10 yards long.

However, Portland College will be having a new Multi-Sports indoor venue and a large new field directly adjacent to the indoor venue which our club, Hart of Sherwood and the Hart of Sherwood Paras can use once the New Sports hall and field have been completed.

Our current indoor venue has inadequate lighting and no formal heating facility and is exceptionally cold during the indoor season.

The current indoor venue at Botany avenue in Mansfield does not have any roof insulation or sufficient heating facilities which generally results in a very poor attendance.

So hopefully when we will be coaching and shooting at the new Portland College venue in addition to our existing venue at Botany Avenue we will be able to increase our coaching and shooting sessions days and times to the public and our members in a warmer environment and offering cafe facilities too.

If you would be kind enough to place a brief summary on your website regarding the information I have provided it would be much appreciated.
